About

Global IP Watch is an international intellectual property (IP) case law reporter produced by IP professionals in contributing jurisdictions publishing free enhanced case summaries of significant international IP decisions. Global IP Watch case summaries are published within days of court decisions and are annotated with links to cited decisions, legislation, and patent and trade-mark registrations to help IP professionals stay up to date with international developments. Unlike traditional publications, Global IP Watch adopts an innovative open access publishing model by offering its enhanced case summaries through free subscription e-newsletters and RSS feeds. Representing different countries, schools, and firms, many Global IP Watch editors have scientific or advanced degrees, law review experience, publication credit or international legal experience. The international nature of IP practice requires legal professionals to stay informed about foreign jurisdictions while counselling domestic clients. Since IP professionals can spend much of their time securing their client's interests through foreign contacts, they have a particular need to interact with the international IP community while often having less formal opportunities to work with local colleagues. There is a need for a specialized community for law students and new IP professionals that crosses jurisdictional and national borders. Global IP Watch aims to lay the foundation for such a community by establishing forums to discuss the practice of IP, inviting commentary by established professionals and maintaining its own electronic forums, Linkedin Group and Facebook Page.
